A Crazy Week

This has been quite the week. Looking back now it is starting to feel like a blur and everything has run together. Ryan, Caleb and I are completely exhausted! Work has been very hectic for us and I've had to drag Caleb into the office a couple of nights this week just so I could spend time with him. It's difficult being a working mommy and finding the right balance between the office and home. This has not been the week for balance and harmony between the two. Between computer issues at work and a boat job Ryan has had going this week, there's not much time for anything else!

My great uncle passed away this week. He had a long fight with complications from diabetes, just like my grandfather. We have to visit the funeral home this evening to pay our respects. I really hate that this occasion is how some extended family gets to meet Caleb for the first time. Any prayers for our family at this time would be greatly appreciated. My great uncle's wife is also not doing well at all. She is hooked up to a ventilator and is expected to be on it for the rest of her life.

My best friend, Jessica, called this week. Her father is in the hospital right now with a kidney tumor and possibly cancer throughout his body. Jessica is in her mid-twenties and has the weight of the world on her shoulders right now. I honestly couldn't imagine having to go through that at my age. She's dealing with it through prayer and a lot of strength. Ryan and I are praying for her and her family.

One of my coworkers has a daughter about a month and a half older than Caleb. Rachel goes to daycare with Caleb and she's just the cutest little thing! About two weeks ago she got a respiratory infection along with a pretty bad ear infection (must be going around). Then the medicine they put her on made her tummy all upset, so she really has had it rough. On top of all that, Rachel started running a really high fever and had complications this week. Yesterday she was admitted to the hospital and diagnosed with pneumonia. The last update we received was that her temperature was around 104 degrees, she was getting an IV, and the area around her soft spot was swelling pretty bad. We have not heard anything else today. This little girl and her family need plenty of prayers right now.

I told you this has been an eventful week! Ryan had a boat bottom job this week. He was actually painting spots on the bottom at 8:15 last night! He was determined to get the boat in the water today and it was launched around 9:00 this morning! The guys he works with really hustled this week to get it done. I'm sure they are relieved to see the boat in the water!

Since this had been a heavy blog, I want to post something really cute that Caleb does. In the mornings, Ryan turns on monster truck racing while getting ready for work. Lately as Caleb has started paying more attention to his surroundings, he has locked in on monster trucks in the morning! It's getting to where he tries to turn his head to see the TV while eating a bottle. For once, this child is interested in something more than food! I think he likes the bright colors and sounds of the trucks. He is definitely taking after Ryan with the love of anything with an engine! Here's a picture Ryan took yesterday morning:

Ryan's parents took us to Amigo's for my birthday dinner. Caleb was such a cutie when he started looking at the menu! Here's a picture of him acting like a little man:

Maybe next week will be a little less eventful.....
