His Wishlists

It has been suggested to me that I make a wishlist for Caleb's first birthday. I guess it would be a lot simpler to let everyone know what Caleb likes and needs for his birthday instead of just guessing. I wish more parents did this for their children. I hate giving a gift that a child may not want!

Here are a couple of things Caleb and his mommy are wanting for his birthday...

We really need a place to store Caleb's growing toy collection!
This would match his bed perfectly!

Tell me he wouldn't just love this little Power Wheels four wheeler!
We'd have the perfect place to drive it: the soon-to-be finished family room!

And he would go absolutely nuts over this one....
He loves anything with wheels and I could see this keeping his attention for a bit!

And no toy collection would complete without....

As some of you may remember, I plan to decorate our guest bathroom for Caleb. I am hoping that he receives some of the bath decor so I can pull this off for him. You can find it HERE!

Too Cute, Right?

Caleb has a wish list at Toys R Us and at Sears, so go check them out if you're interested!

My New Project

In our area, the local TV station hosts a "Share Your Christmas" food drive each year. I believe this has been going on for over 25 years now. I have decided to collect non-perishable food items at Island Cove Marina and Resort from now until the food drive in an effort to motivate people around me to give to those less fortunate. The morning of the food drive, I'm loading all of the donated items and heading down to represent our marina. For the person that donates the most food to Island Cove, I am awarding a free night in our beautiful hotel.

Christmas is my favorite time of the year and I want to share joy with those around me this holiday season. Ryan, Caleb and I have so many things to be thankful for this year and God has taken good care of us. Now, it's time for us to give back to the community. I believe the Lord put something into my heart yesterday when the idea came to me. I feel like He is leading me to do something so much greater with my life right now. I have the ability to reach out to many people right now and encourage them to help others.

I am so excited about this opportunity and am praying that it goes well. Maybe this is the start of a tradition for the marina....

It was such a beautiful ceremony. I am so happy to have been a part of their special day.

To my brother and "new sister": I wish you all of the happiness in the world as you take the next big step in your life together. Marriage is a beautiful gift and should be cherished as long as you live. Every day of it won't be sunshine and butterflies, but if you work for it each day will bring you closer. Lean on each other when times get tough and celebrate together in times of bliss. May God bless you each and every step of the way.... I love you both.

Oh, What A Night!

What an exhausting evening we had last night! My mom and I took Caleb to Babies R Us to pick out his outfit for Brian and Tara's wedding. He's going to be so cute, but I'll wait for this weekend to show the pictures!

While we were there, all of the Halloween outfits were on sale. I found the perfect one for Caleb! We tried it on as soon as we got home!

Look who's gonna be Tigger!!!

I'm sorry, but that has got to be one of the cutest outfits ever!

Mommy is super excited!

I also made a bad mistake last night....
My mom pushed Caleb down the toy aisle. I picked up a cute truck and showed it to Caleb.
When I went to put it back on the shelf, he screamed in misery.
Guess what went home with us.....

One happy kid!

After Caleb went to bed last night, Ryan and I played around with the Jeep.
He's so excited about it....

One happy hubby!

It's Been A While....

I'm a little on the tomboy side. There's really no denying that! I'd rather get out to go Jeep riding, play football, or go to our camper. Needless to say, I don't do much dressing up! While I am so honored to be one of Tara's bridesmaids this weekend, I so dread wearing a dress for a few hours....

My friend, Cortney, had a beautiful pink dress and let me borrow it. Luckily it fits perfectly! Thank Heavens for that gallbladder surgery and loosing ten pounds these past two weeks! So, here's my dress for this Saturday....

So, there it is...
Me, all dressed up!

Our new neighbors were outside when I came waltzing out to show hubby!
They must think we're strange by now....
Maybe I should bake something and take it over before they think twice about moving!

Take Them A Meal

I just stumbled upon an awesome new website and thought I would share it with you....

Take Them A Meal

The creators, Scott Rogers and Adina Bailey, created the site for the following reason:

"In December of 2007, a close friend of ours collapsed from the sudden onset of a heart condition. The phone rang day and night because family, friends and neighbors wanted to help by bringing meals to her husband and four young children. We felt overwhelmed by the task of coordinating meals, but we wanted to help and knew the meals were needed. As a result, we designed a site that eliminated the need for making and receiving time-consuming phone calls.

Once the site was finished, we realized that meal scheduling is done not just when tragedy strikes, but when babies are born, when friends are receiving medical treatments, and in so many other situations. Before we knew it, many of our friends were making use of and word was spreading. Just recently, a child in our community was severely injured. The family posted a link to their account on their blog, and a meal schedule for several months was filled overnight.

We made to help one family we care about deeply and that in itself made the site worthwhile. Now we’d like to share this tool, so others may be helped as well."

A few reasons to use this site:
  • A family has the flu
  • A new baby has arrived
  • A family member is receiving medical treatments
  • A family is caring for an ill family member
  • A child is hospitalized long-term and meals are being delivered to the parents in the hospital lobby
  • Weekly snacks are needed for the classroom
  • Families are signing up to have a specific college student to their home for dinner
  • Adult children are scheduling dinner dates with an elderly parent
  • A loved one has died and meals are brought to comfort the family

Not only is this helpful tool free, but it can be used for such a variety of purposes! I'm really looking forward to trying it I just need someone who needs to be taken care of! One of my friends needs to hurry up and pop out a baby because I would rather that be the reason for the food!

This is such a thoughtful way to show someone you care....

When and why did you start blogging?

I started blogging in January 2008. I blogged for over a year and then had to take a break until the beginning of this year because of medical problems. I am a Mom of four daughters and I miss having adult interaction. Blogging was a great way to find new friends and write about my family.

What is your favorite part of blogging?

I absolutely adore all the friends I have made. Being a Mom doesn't always give you enough time to have friends around. So, I know if I have a problem or need to get something off my chest I can always go to my bloggy friends. I am also having a blast doing review and giveaways! It gets addicting once you start it. Make sure to check out my giveaways!

What makes your blog special?

I write from my heart and I hope that it shows through my posts. I also love to point out the funny things in life and make others laugh.

Hubby's Toys

When Ryan and I were engaged, I bought him a GMC Yukon as a sort of wedding present. A year ago, the truck's transmission gave out and it sat for a while. Luckily, our awesome family gave money to replace the transmission! We were so very grateful, but when Ryan went to take it through our county's emissions testing, it failed. Upon checking it out, we discovered we just weren't going to invest any more money in the truck. While Ryan and I just loved it, we were kinda glad to see it go....

We took the money and Ryan found this:

Our new project car!
A Jeep YJ is the perfect car for us to play around with.
Not only can we go trail riding, but we can have a hobby together!
Ryan and I have always wanted some type of car to fix up together after Caleb goes to bed.
This will be perfect!
It's actually in great shape as it is (which is really rare)!
All of the gauges work, the seats are aftermarket, and the body is in great condition!
I'm not sure the baby blue sits well with us, but it will definitely work for now!

We turned Caleb loose and he just loves it!

Two excited guys ready to work on the project car!

Not only will it be cool in Tellico, this Jeep will definitely save us some gas money too!

Things we've already done:
Rewired the stereo so it's hidden and in a water tight area
Removed the grill gaurds (not really the "look" we're going for)
Removed the flooring (we want to Rhino line everything inside)
Removed the CB radio and antenna (most DEFINITELY not our "thing")

As the project progresses, I'll post pictures!
We're so excited about the newest "addition" to our family!
