Caleb's First Halloween!

We have had such a great weekend! On Friday night, we loaded up and went to Tellico for our annual Halloween party. Caleb was Tigger, I was a Greek goddess, and my dear, sweet hubby was an oversized ballerina. Seriously, I'm not joking! We had a great party and hayride through the campgrounds!

I actually tied my own toga from a bed sheet! It turned out better than I thought it would!

Now, here is my hubby:

Yeah, he thought he was so creative....
Dad was Popeye, Uncle David was Uncle Fester, Mom was a gypsie, Debbie was a clown, and Brian was a jester....

Tara was a little devil and Zoey was a cow!
We wore Caleb out! On Saturday he did a lot of napping!
Belle and Caleb snuggled up during the football games....
Our first year carving pumpkins!

Okay, Dad, I'm ready!!!

Digging out pumpkin guts!

Caleb decided to let Daddy take over when Mommy stopped him from eating it.
The brown stains on his shirt are from Granny giving him his first chocolate lollipop.

Caleb wasn't crazy about standing in the pumpkin.
I think it was a little cold....

I carved the cat and Ryan carved the bat after Caleb went to bed!

Show Us Your Life: Guest Room

This week at Kelly's Korner we're touring guest rooms!
If you want to join in, just head over to her blog and link up!

Okay, so here's my guest room. The bedroom suite was given to me by my grandfather when I was very young. I'm very sentimental, so I have held onto it a while all my life. Ryan and I have plans to paint this room soon. When Bryce and Madison were staying with us more often, they each had their own room. Since Caleb has come along and we transformed this into a guest room, they share this room while they're here. This is not really what I want Bryce to have to sleep in! I'm thinking of maybe doing something grey and white on the walls. Then I could use any color accents I find. I am hoping to hand down the bedroom suite to Zoey when she's older and get something a little more fitting for the room. I'm eventually putting twin beds in this room and can't wait to get started!

I took Caleb to the doctor this morning because he's had a small rash on one side of his face for a few days. Luckily it seems like he may just be allergic to a type of laundry detergent. I wash all of his stuff in Dreft, but he could be snuggling up to someone or something that hasn't been. We're going to watch and try to figure it out. In the meantime, the doctor suggested I rub some hydrocortizone cream on it so it can clear up. Poor Caleb also had to get his first flu shot this morning. He didn't care for that at all....then again, neither did his mother.

It's so hard to believe this month is almost over. The time has just flown by me. Halloween in only in a few days, my uncle is have surgery on both knees on Monday, and Caleb's birthday is right around the corner. I know parents say all of the time that time passes so quickly and kids are grown before you know it, but I didn't think it could really seem this fast. This time last year, I was impatiently waiting to have Caleb. I can still remember his tiny kicks jabbing my stomach. How could he be a year old? It's just insane....

We had some terrible weather last night. Dangerous storms moved through two nights in a row. That kind of weather is so unusual for our area. The first night, a tornado touched down about a half mile from my brother's house. It destroyed the roof of a church and left lots of debris. Last night was even more scary. About 6:45 the sky turned dark and the weather channel was telling those in our area to take cover. Tornados were spotted at our marina, at the local state park, and going across the dam. Thankfully, there were no fatalities around us. The worst is storm damage and car wrecks. We never saw any wild winds at our house, but one tornado was less than a mile away from us. Caleb slept through every single bit of the bad weather!

This is all sort of random, but there's been a lot going on around here! I can only pray next week will be a little calmer!

Caleb's birthday invitations are being sent out today and I am so excited! Here's a quick preview:

Thanks to the awesome Cricut and my mom, Caleb has some extra cute invitations for his frog party!

Little Bit was extra fussy this morning. He whined all over the place. I would set him on the floor and he would fall over crying. He may be cutting another tooth, but this child is so dramatic!

Can we be any more pitiful???

Tellico in the Fall

Tellico was absolutely gorgeous this weekend! Ryan and I mentioned what we were doing this time last year....

This time last year, I was about to pop I was so pregnant. By this time I was just praying Caleb would hurry up and get here. All of my family was just praying that I would hold out until after our Tellico Halloween party. When we would go to Tellico those last few weekends, I would sit and think about all of the wonderful things we could do once he was here. I'm one of those ladies who hated being pregnant in the third trimester. I was sick on sleeping on my side, I was tired of having swollen feet, and Caleb was just plain heavy! I should also mention how impatient I can be. I literally had the worst time waiting for him to get here! He was totally worth the wait, but I am so blessed that he is here!

I love Fall in Tellico. This is one season I just couldn't wait to share with Caleb. This weekend we enjoyed taking walks and looking at all of the pretty trees.
Ready to go walking....

I just love him to pieces!

Show Us Your Life: Nurseries

So, I'm going to give you a tour of Caleb's room today! This is probably one of my favorite rooms in the house because it turned out just how I wanted it to.

Caleb's crib that Ryan built for him.

The swing holds Caleb's frog now.
Caleb has already grown out of it.
It was a lifesaver when he was a newborn!
He slept better here for the first three months!

This is the changing table Ryan built for Caleb.

His crib bedding.

My aunt made this for Caleb after he was born.

His closet stuffed with clothes....

Hope you enjoyed Caleb's room today....

Dance Star Mickey

Out of all the toys at Toys R Us, Caleb fell in love with this one! I'm so proud of him! My angel loves, loves, loves Mickey Mouse! We called his Granny while we were in the store so he could "tell" her all about it and it just so happens that Granny is getting it for him for his birthday!

Caleb is going to be so excited. When we were checking out Mickey, Caleb just hugged on him. When we turned him on to sing, Caleb tried to hold Mickey's hands. It was just too precious! When I put him back on the shelf, Caleb had a fit.

My Little Pig

I just love how my two guys love to eat!
Caleb got his first Japanese meal of fried rice, veggies, shrimp, and scallops.
He loved every single bit of it!

Right now there is no food that Caleb will turn down.
He literally will eat anything!
If we hand him a spoon with food on it, he will take it and put it in his mouth.
He also has learned how to drink out of a cup and use a straw.
His favorite foods are mac and cheese, green beans, and any kind of Gerber Puffs!
I don't know where he puts it, but that kid can definitely put away some food....

Thankful Thursday

The week is almost over! Thank Heavens for that!

I am so thankful this week for so many wonderful things happening in our lives right now. Caleb is trying to walk now! He took just a couple of steps going back and forth between my parents last night. He looked so proud of himself. I know it's just a matter of time before I'll be chasing his happy butt around the house! He's also started showing off in front of people. I think he's starting to know how cute he actually is! Ha!

Ryan and I started a new book together this past week.
This book focuses on including God in your marriage relationship to strengthen it. Ryan and I are trying to make some major changes in our life together in order to have a more fulfilling relationship. I am so thankful that my husband is making this effort with me and that we can all go to church as a family now. With work, it's difficult to pull off going to church on Sundays but since we're on winter hours we can go to the early service.
I believe we have been through more marriage crashing issues than your average couple. Having a blended family isn't easy. Learning to balance working together and living together is crazy. My hubby's ADHD and my insane hormones don't add up to marital bliss twenty-four hours a day! This most difficult part about it all is realizing that we aren't perfect and that we can lean on family for support and encouragement. In the first two years of our marriage, we have dealt with so much. I think it can only get better from here.

I am so thankful for some things that have started working out for us this week. A dream Ryan and I have had for our family is slowly becoming a reality. I'm praying for patience and guidance to make the right decisions to reach our goal.

Finally, I am so thankful that this week is almost over! The audit should wrap up today and that will be just in time for me to enjoy a nice weekend with my family!

What an insanely busy week this has been so far! I feel so out of the blogging loop! By the time I get home in the evenings, play with Caleb, cook dinner, and get ready for the next day I am absolutely exhausted! Work has been rather interesting, to say the least.

A company that we rent our boat showroom out to decided they could no longer continue their business. So, in the middle of the night they took their stuff and moved out. We knew it was coming, but didn't really know when. I've spent a couple of days cleaning up some and organizing the mess left behind.

Then, on top of all that I have a huge audit that I've got going on this week. The guy has been here since Monday and I see no signs of this wrapping up any time soon. My brain has been wracked by so many tiny details. Lucky for me my memory has really improved in the last couple of months!

Then, I got handed the responsibility of getting our security system updated and repaired. I have to supervise all of that going on!

The icing on the cake is that my main computer that I use had a nasty virus, so I've had to work with an awesome computer guy to get it fixed. Lucky, lucky me!

I guess now would be a good time to mention that I've got Caleb's birthday invitations 75% finished. Mom is going to end up finishing the final touches so I can get them sent out. I'll post a picture when they're finished!

Ryan and I have been slowly making progress on our basement renovation. We just can't seem to find the time to get it all done. We have just one more sheet of dry wall left to hang, a little more mudding, and then on to the sanding part. I think the sanding is my least favorite part, but it also means you're so close to painting! My uncle has contacted me several times this week trying to apologize and get back in our good graces. I accept his apology, but I just don't think I can allow him to do anymore work for us. It was terrible trying to figure out when he was actually going to work, having him cancel plans on us a lot, and then listen to how pitiful everything was in his life. I just emotionally can't take anymore of his behavior for a while.

It's only Wednesday.....

Caleb and His Giraffe

Just wanted to share how talkative Caleb can be now!
He's so funny!
If you want to listen to just the video and not my music player, you can mute it at the very bottom of this page....

Wild Child!

What an eventful weekend we have had!
At work a few weeks ago, we all decided to go to the Chattanooga Mocs' homecoming game together. It's unusual for us to have a chance to all get together and do something, so we jumped at the opportunity.
Bo and I arranged to tailgate before everything got started. By the time everyone came out to meet us, we had all of the hamburgers and hot dogs ready to go!
Bo's wife and parents joined us and Caleb just fell absolutely in love with Bo's mom!
He snuggled all up to her and kissed her all over her face!
It was absolutely hilarious because this was the first time he's ever been really affectionate.

The Mocs did win their football game!

Before Ryan and I took Caleb to his first football game, we decided to visit the zoo.
I think the pictures can speak for the weekend:

Mommy and Caleb before going to the zoo....

One happy baby!

Gotta play with all the toys!

Very energetic parents....

Daddy showed Caleb the little tamarin monkeys!
These cute things were hyper!

Caleb got to see Hank.
This monkey was born in the 70's.

Caleb picked out a giraffe to take home with Daddy's help.

He was so excited to have something cuddly!

We went to see the Chattanooga Mocs' football team.
This was Caleb's first football game!
We got to watch the game with Darrell, Amber, Zac, Arty, DiAnn, James, Bob, Aaron, and Christine!

Arty and Darrell had Caleb all excited about football!
Caleb had to love on his Uncle Darrell!

He only lasted until halftime! He slept through Arty, Darrell, and Daddy's screaming....

Sunday morning he woke up so happy and loved on his giraffe!

He just couldn't wait to show Pappy and Nana his new animal!

Caleb had an awesome weekend!

Thankful Thursday

  • In the blogging world, you come across other mommies. These mommies know more mommies and so the links grow from there. In the mommy blogging community this week, two angels went to Heaven. Please pray for Ewan's family and Joshua's family this week. These parents have been through more than any parent should ever endure. My heart breaks for them as they grieve their lost babies. My heart breaks for them and I am even more appreciative of the healthy child I have been given.
  • I am so happy Ryan, Caleb and I got to attend church together for the first time this past weekend. I'm so glad Ryan's parents invited us to go with them.
  • I'm so thankful that we're getting some progress done on our future family room finally! I have so enjoyed planning paint colors!

My Little Kitchen Mouse

While I was fixing dinner last night (homemade chili), Caleb stayed under my feet the whole time. I started to bring out some of the kitchen items that I don't use on a regular basis, and let him play around. This was such a special thing for me because I can remember visiting my granny and getting to play with all of her kitchen stuff. I have looked forward to this moment for quite a while and Caleb just loved it! He created a lot of noise and had the best time!

He was trying to get into EVERYTHING last night!

Pitching a fit....
"Look, Granny and Nana! I have socks on!"

Now, that's much better!
Happy Baby!
Looks like I may have a buddy in my kitchen....

I think I forgot to mention this, but last week Caleb had his first top tooth break through!
I cannot believe he'll be eleven months old next week. The time is just flying by....

Tonight, Daddy and Caleb are spending one on one time together. Debbie and I are going out for some much needed retail therapy! We pretty much share the same favorite stores, so this will be so relaxing.

Our Pumpkin Patch Kid

Ryan and I took Caleb to his very first pumpkin patch yesterday in Stevenson, Alabama. It's a little over an hour away from Chattanooga and it was absolutely beautiful yesterday! I completely apologizein advance for the twenty something photos you're about to view. My only excuse is that he was just too precious not to take a ton of pictures!

Mommy and Caleb about to go for his first hayride!

Happy Fall!

"Um...I don't know about this...."

Caleb was a little fussy because he was sleepy....

He is just fascinated with pumpkin stems....

Out in the pumpkin patch

Daddy and Caleb searched for the perfect pumpkins.
There was a huge cotton field right behind us.

Of course Daddy went in search for the biggest pumpkin he could find....
Did I mention it was all the way at the bottom of a hill???

I want this one!

Our three pumpkins

Mommy and Caleb found a little one....

Our first trip to the pumpkin patch!

We really had a nice time and the weather cooperated the whole time. Ryan and I decided before Caleb arrived that we wanted him to be exposed to a lot of different experiences as a child. We both believe you can learn a lot by doing and this was just one of those times. A lot of people have asked if we don't get just absolutely worn out doing things since he's so young, but I think we have a pretty good system. Sure, it was tiring walked back up a hill in the middle of all the pumpkins with a kid on one hip and a pumpkin on the other. But, it was so worth it! I've found that a lot of parents don't get out much with their babies, but we're not that type! The more we do it, the easier it gets! I think Ryan and I would go nuts if we spent the majority of our time as a family cooped up in the house!

On an even more awesome note: as Caleb is getting more active, I'm loosing weight! As of yesterday, I am four pounds away from my pre-pregnancy weight. This is also the least I've weighed since having Caleb. Needless to say, I'm super excited! Since having Caleb, I have now lost twenty-eight pounds! It's been a slow process, but I'm getting there!

Yesterday before going to bed, Caleb decided we were going to play in his room. I brought the big dog out of the corner and he crawled all over it! Too cute!!!
