Blessings While Waiting

Something is really bothering my heart right now, blog friends. I want to approach this subject with a lot of heart, understanding and compassion. I have stood by and silently watched several lady friends struggle recently and I am just plain heartbroken for them. I truly, one hundred percent believe that God has a very specific plan for each person in life.

Jeremiah 29:11-13 says:

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."

I know so many friends who have tried to take their futures into their own hands and orchestrate the outcome. Heck, I've tried to do that so many times myself. I am here to tell you, it usually turns out to be one huge mess! There have been times I have outright ignored God's callings throughout my life and I have suffered for it. I guarantee you I have no business trying to plan and run my own life! But, I've been there...I have done that.

I know some of my sweet friends are waiting in life. They wait for a career opportunity, they wait for the love of their life to sweep them off their feet, or they are waiting to have a precious child. Sometimes they're waiting on all of that. It's a struggle and sometimes they try to end the waiting part. They seek out ways around waiting for God to complete His plan. They walk down the wrong paths looking to fill the emptiness of their hearts. While pushing, plotting, and planning paths that the Lord hasn't chose for them, they make poor decisions. They turn from God and find themselves lost. Sometimes they do things that degrade their characters.

My heart breaks for the woman looking for love in all the wrong places. It hurts me to see someone making decisions that will haunt them later on. I know how lonely it can be to see some of your friends who "have it all" and are living the life you so desperately desire. What my friends don't realize when they are hurting is that God knows everything in their heart. He knows how they are hurting, but He is not here to bring pain. He is here to bring something special to them, in His own time.

I've seen women struggle with infertility. Their every thought is consumed with all things baby. I've seen some of those women become pregnant with absolute miracles. But it is in God's timing! Even though they have suffered for so long, they are given the desires of their heart. It makes them appreciate that special blessing so much more!

I have an optimistic approach to life. I honestly believe that when you are waiting for something in life, God is working behind the scenes to build your future. It may not always be what you had in mind, but He is always there taking care of you! I believe there are some times we learn things and deepen our relationship with the Lord during those periods of waiting. There are so many people who miss those opportunities. When God finally brings blessings into your life, I believe you appreciate and value them so very much more if you have been patient in your waiting. I don't believe in taking things into your own hands and potentially messing up future happiness (I tried and it didn't work). I know a lot of people cause unnecessary stress, pain and emotional problems for themselves trying to bypass God's plans.

If you feel stuck in a period of waiting for something your heart desires, draw yourself closer to the Lord. Know that He will absolutely provide for you, love you, and bring you peace when nothing else in this world will. Lean on Him through the heartaches, the disappointments, and the struggle. You absolutely will never go wrong there. Seek out Christians who can help support you in the tough times. You don't have to wait alone. It doesn't matter if you seem to have messed your life up beyond belief already. It is never too late to let God in! He works miracles every single day, my friends!
