Venetian Sunset

Several years ago, I fell in love with a wonderful drink at Olive Garden. I just love their Venetian Sunsets. Not only are they beautiful, but they taste tropical and sweet. I found a couple of recipes for them online, but never could quite seem to master the technique to make it look as beautiful.

Since Ryan and I had the whole weekend to ourselves, we decided to have some champagne. I wanted to dress it up a little since it was a special weekend so I got the idea to make the Venetian Sunsets. These are simple to make and sure to impress! 

You need three ingredients : Martini & Rossi Asti Spumante (sparkling wine), pineapple juice and grenadine. 

This sparkling wine is not too sweet and goes well with the sweet pineapple and grenadine. I first tried to mix the drink like online recipes instructed.... It tasted the same, but didn't have a sunset look to it. I poured 1/2 ounce of grenadine, 3 ounces of pineapple juice and 3 ounces of the sparkling wine. 

Then I got creative....I wanted it to look pretty! 

I poured the pineapple juice first, then the champagne. Finally I carefully poured the grenadine into the glass and it turned out perfectly! The grenadine slowly sunk to the bottom and this is what I got....

I told you it was easy! The next time you're celebrating something special or want to wow your guests, this is perfect.
