31 Days to A Better You - Day 3


Losing weight isn't a temporary thing. You have to decide that now is your time. You don't suddenly wake up one morning and think, "I'm going to lose all that extra weight I've been carrying for the last however many years today." Sorry, sweetie, it just doesn't work that way. Believe me, I tried. I can remember getting up thinking, "Today is the day. I'm going to make it happen." By lunch time, I would return to my bad eating habits and completely forget about it. 

When you put on a lot of weight, there are times that you don't realize how bad it has gotten. I put on a lot of weight when I was pregnant with Caleb. I used him as my excuse for eating. I thought as soon as he was born, the weight would magically just fall right off. What a joke! Before he was one, I almost weighed what I did before I went into the hospital to have him. No kidding....

I let myself go with empty promises to lose the weight until Caleb turned 2. I looked at all of those pictures of my beautiful little boy and thought about how his fat mama was taking away from those beautiful family memories we were making. The pictures of myself made me cringe. It was depressing and I rolled around in my whole pity party for a bit. Then I decided it was time to change my lifestyle. It was time to change all of those nasty eating habits and make a decision to be an active part of my family's lives. 

Until you make the conscious decision to take control of your life and your decisions and change them to make yourself better, your efforts will not last. You cannot enter this journey thinking about the temporary things you will do to reach your goal. You have to make a commitment to yourself that you will change the way you live. You don't have to put them all into action all at once. You can make a few small changes and then build on them as you see the results of your efforts and when your confidence soars. 

Today is your day to commit to this process. Make today your day.
