31 Days to A Better You - Day 9

Let's talk about trying to eat healthier at the dreaded buffet. Sometimes you just can't avoid them. My husband and son love to eat. Luckily for them, they can eat their hearts out and still stay on the smaller side. If I ate like either one of them, I'd easily weigh 400 pounds. No joke. 

I made simple changes to my buffet eating ways and it has made a huge difference. Normally, my husband will go straight for the fried foods and meats. While that works for him, I had to change things for me. I start out with the salad bar. I will fix the biggest salad with whatever toppings I want on them. After I finish that and I'm still hungry, I go for some of the other foods. I approach the rest as snacking. I won't get heaping helpings of anything. I also try to stick for more of the cooked veggies and leaner meats. 

If I eat some of the fried foods at this point since I've cut them out of my diet, it literally makes my stomach hurt. You don't realize until all of it is out of your system. I don't miss or crave fried foods at all anymore and I never thought I would say that. Ever....
