Farm Animals and Tractors

We have taken Caleb to the local county fair every year and we knew this year would be the most exciting. He's finally at an age that he can really enjoy stuff like that.

Caleb asks constantly when he can ride a school bus, so when we got a chance to take one yesterday he was so excited!

The first thing Caleb wanted to do was ride a pony. It was his first time and I honestly thought he would scare himself out of the idea. He patiently waited for about twenty minutes to get his turn and he loved it!

I was one proud mama!

He wanted Daddy to walk around with him as he rode it. So sweet!

Then we got to hold a baby duck.

He kept saying, "Hey, cutie pie!" to that duck. He was precious trying to baby talk the duck.

Several young girls took time to show Caleb the animals yesterday. I don't know what it was, but he just attracted them.

Caleb is absolutely in love with tractors. It's more like pitch a fit until we get to sit on one kind of obsession at this point.

I also got to show Caleb my favorite car. When I was little, my dad restored a 1973 Superbeetle for me and it was bright red. I absolutely loved that car and have told my husband he'll have to restore the next one for me.

We ran into some tree cutting friends who helped us out at the marina after the tornado. They let Caleb sit on their equipment and he was in Heaven!

We let Caleb get his face painted for the first time. He was so patient and still so he could get a "T" painted on.

Before we left, we stopped by the petting area to see the cows and goats.

Caleb made buddies with this little brown cow.

He fed and hugged all over him.

We had the best time at the fair. This was the first year we could ditch the stroller! It's easier to let Caleb walk with us now and enjoy everything around us. He was so good about staying right with us and listening. He noticed a kid his size with one of those backpack kid leash things on and asked me loudly why that kid was wearing one. I am so thankful we don't have to resort to those with him! He totally cracked us up!

Little Farmer

Caleb has been learning so much at school this past month and he just loves it! The month of September was a whole unit devoted to farm life. Last Thursday Caleb got to dress up like a farmer and ride on a tractor. The church set up a pumpkin patch on the baseball field and Caleb got to pick a pumpkin.

Granny bought him the cutest pair of overalls for his special school day. She got him a size 5T and we were concerned about them being a little too big. Turns out, we didn't even need to worry about that being an issue! Seriously, the boy isn't even three yet and he's wearing size 5 clothing. I have no idea where he gets it...

When he put his new boots on, the overalls were the perfect length.
I just love his sweet expressions.
Seeing his face every day is what makes me happiest in life.
I am so very lucky to be his mama.
God has truly blessed us with a sweet, hilarious little boy in our lives.

River Run

We decided to spend the weekend in one of our favorite spots. Tellico was absolutely beautiful and you can tell Fall is in the air! We have the sweetest friends there and Caleb has a blast with all of them. Tracy had his tractor there this weekend and Caleb just couldn't wait to ride it. It took him a few minutes to gather the courage to get on, but once he started we just about couldn't get him back off of it. Tracy is just so awesome with Caleb....

He was so excited to ride the tractor around. Caleb seems to make friends everywhere he goes and it really makes my heart happy.

My parents' cabin is making awesome progress. They have literally redone everything there. I love the new place and I think it's perfect for them. The room that excited my mom the most was for Caleb and Zoey. She has made them a room in their new cabin and it is so amazing. When they first got the cabin, this is what the kids' room looked like:

The furniture was really too large for the room and I refuse to discuss the decor choices. Just not my style...
And now, Mom has transformed it into a beautiful, kid friendly, bear lovin' room!

The bottom part of the bed has another mattress that slides out. Now Caleb and Zoey have a place to hang out when they're with Granny and Granddaddy!

Mom decorated the walls with plenty of bears and Caleb just loved all of it when he first saw it.

One of his favorite new spots is lying on the bear rug!

And his second favorite spot is in Granny's jacuzzi tub!

He splashed water everywhere and let his new dinosaurs swim around. This kid was in hog heaven! Granny put a toy box in their room and she stocked it with brand new toys. Friday night found us opening every single toy in the box and playing with Caleb. We had a blast. We got so tickled at Caleb and my mom arguing about who won what game. That child is just so much fun these days.

We really love my parent's new cabin and Mom promised that I can share the interior with you as things progress.

Impatient

I anxiously awaited the arrival of our new bedding on Friday. That's putting it rather lightly... More like I checked the package tracking information via UPS like a mad woman until the package arrived at 11:46 am. I may have even slightly considered tracking the brown truck down, but luckily it arrived before lunch on Friday!

Normally, I am super patient when it comes to getting new things. Ryan makes fun of me when I don't open my new whatever immediately upon receiving it. Friday at lunch, my patience just didn't survive! I jumped into the car and began ripping the box open. I couldn't wait to get home and open it where I had plenty of space. Nope, not this time.

When I ordered the bedding, I noticed that the description for the bedding was chocolate brown and blue. In the reviews, many commented that it wasn't really blue and had more green in it. I was hoping and praying it would be a nice lighter shade of turquoise, but I was prepared to work with any color I got since I just loved the design.

When I opened the box, I noticed it was absolutely everything I had wanted! The perfect colors I envisioned.  I couldn't even eat lunch until everything was put on the new bed....

Now that I have an idea of the colors, I can work on the next part.... Decorating my walls. I have so many ideas running around in my head thanks to the ever wonderful Pinterest.  I adore having a project.

Progress Is Slow

Time for a weight loss update, friends! Y'all know how stalled out I've been lately and I am so very excited to share that I've lost a little more! I'm finally 37 pounds lighter today than I was November 1st of last year. To a girl who really loves food, that is a huge accomplishment!

Looking back over the progress I've made, I never really realized how bad my weight had spun out of control. At the time, I never thought I looked that bad. Had I realized it then, I maybe would have started sooner. But it is what it is, right? I'm doing better now and that's what matters most.

The day I went into the hospital to have Caleb, I was 46.5 pounds heavier than I am right now. My body just feels so very much better today. I know all of that weight was worth it since I have my beautiful boy in my life, but I really kept it on for too long. I can actually keep up with Caleb now and stay active with him and that's the biggest benefit to all of this. I don't want to be the mom who sits and watches from the couch. I desperately want to be the mom who can get out there and play with my little boy without it absolutely killing me. If Caleb ever looks back on this blog when he's older, I want him to know I mostly made these changes for him. He's what is driving me to be healthier and take better care of myself because I want to be here for him as much as he needs me to be.

The other part of doing this is for Ryan. I love for him to look at me like he did when we first fell in love. I understand a lot of people out there will argue with this point, but many men do actually care about a woman's appearance. When I let my weight get out of control, I worried about the way I looked (obviously not enough to do anything about it). Ryan would reassure me that he still loved me just the same. And I honestly don't doubt that love at all. But, when I began taking better care of myself I noticed a big difference in our relationship. He notices and compliments me much more now that I am making an effort to look and feel better. That just makes me feel even more amazing and it's totally worth the effort. He has been my biggest supporter through this journey. I've stalled out, but he's been there pushing me through it. He encourages me so very much and I am so lucky to have his help in all of this.
