Chirpy Bird

Ryan and I have wanted to start doing things after dinner as a family. Caleb's at an age where we can finally start playing games and having projects. Caleb is absolutely nuts about scissors, glue and tape. He gets to create things at school and when he's with Nana and Pa.

For Christmas, my aunt got Caleb a craft kit. The box came with about 1,000 pieces of pom poms, pipe cleaners, and (thankfully) craft ideas. Last night after dinner, Caleb decided he wanted to make a "Chirpy Bird". He picked out his colors and glued everything. I cringed at the thought of Caleb being in charge of the glue, but he surprised us! He actually was meticulous about the whole process.

And here's our finished project:

How cute is that?!?

Caleb was so proud of himself for creating the bird. Normally when I try to take a picture he gives me very fake looks, but he attempted to cooperate with me last night.

I love this age with him! He lets me showcase his art work and he takes pride in his work. I just love being able to hang his art on the fridge. I laugh every time I put up a new piece. I was once the person who refused to hang anything on a fridge. I preferred a clean, orderly look. Yes, I was the one who judged a mother's fridge that had forty-seven million pieces of her child's artwork hanging on the fridge. You know the one....where there is no room to even guess what color the fridge actually is. I swore up and down I'd never hang the stuff on my fridge.....Isn't is funny how God changes us??? While I switch out the art work and only hang one piece on the fridge at a time, I do laugh at how my heart has been changed. Every piece he creates is precious to me. I thank God for allowing me the opportunity to experience it even though I judged before.

Caleb is fiercely independent now. He wants to handle things himself and do everything his way. If you know me in real life, you realize how difficult it is for me. I like to do things my way and be in charge.... Wonder where he gets it....

Experiencing life with Caleb is such an absolute joy!
