Wrestling An Alligator

Friday afternoon, we loaded up and hit the road. We wanted to spend a quiet weekend in Tellico with my parents and great uncle. While we were sitting on the porch, someone snuck into one of the coolers. It still had a little bit of water in the bottom and Caleb thought it was the greatest thing.

He thought it was a great idea to stick ice down his mother's shirt....

And I had to show him that no one gets away with that mess...

This child is amazingly strong! I tried to dunk the top of his head in the little bit of water, but his arms were strong enough to keep it from happening!

So Granddadaddy jumped in to help me out!

We just picked up the cooler and dumped the leftover water over his head!

Wrestling with Caleb is like trying to wrestle an alligator!
Fifty pounds of kid is no joke, y'all!

And he thought that was the funniest thing ever!

After Caleb went to bed, we spent time around the campfire. There's nothing like dancing and catching up with everyone.

On Saturday, I took Caleb wading in the river. He cleaned fish with his Uncle Steve and was covered in fish blood. I love seeing him jump in and try to be one of the boys. Everyone is just so good with him and tries to include him in the fun stuff.

Things You Don't Know

1. I absolutely adore clogging. I started classes when I was in elementary school and I just loved it. I've competed several times, won talent shows, and performed at Dollywood and Gatlinburg.

2. I am terribly shy, but for some reason I love selling boats and talking to people about boats. Don't get shy at all around that! If you come up and talk to me randomly and it isn't about boats, I'm quieter. Believe it or not. If you know me, I'm anything but quite.

3. My husband and I are complete opposites. I am such a nerd at heart and he's my former bad boy. I swear we'd make an amazing story. I was the goody-goody and he was my parent's example of what never to bring home. Seriously...we were neighbors as kids. If he'd have looked at me as anything other than the tomboy, awkward neighbor I was, I'd have fallen hopelessly in love with him on the spot.

4. I want to be a writer someday. I'd love nothing more than to see something published.

5. You can find me stuck in a book on the evenings I'm not pinning stuff or setting up blog posts. I honestly read 3-4 books a week. I can't help myself. My iPad is so full of amazing books and I love to reread them. I get so wrapped up in reading that it's 1:00 am before I know it...

6. I never imagined this blog would grow past ten readers. I gush about all the sweet things you guys say to me to Ryan. He's still in awe of it all too. I don't really share my feelings about my blog with others. It's another shy-off-topic boundary thing for me.

7. It's so difficult for me to talk about my weight loss or this blog with people in real life. I would absolutely love to, but I feel so shy about it. I feel like people may misinterpret it for me being stuck up or snobby. I'm actually neither.

8. I got my first negative comment about my blogging last week and I'm still processing it a bit. It's one reason I'm so quite this week. It's tough to hear that this thing I've babied for years is criticized. I still cannot believe someone wants to read any of this, but to hear someone else say that exact same thing is just plain tough.

9. I wear my heart on my sleeve. Absolutely....and I'm okay with that now.

10. I was never patient until Caleb. I am demanding, bratty at times, and lose my cool. But there's something about Caleb that just evens it all out.

What's Next

I was writing an email to a really sweet new friend and we discussed BMI charts a bit.

Honestly, I hate those dang charts. There are several places to calculate yours based on your height and weight.

Image Via

BMI Categories:
  • Underweight = <18 .5="" li="">
  • Normal weight = 18.5–24.9
  • Overweight = 25–29.9
  • Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater

According to that scale, I'm still slightly overweight. Do I feel unhealthy or fat now? Nope. Considering where I was when I first started, I feel fabulous!

As I have basked in the glorious feelings of reaching my goal weight this entire week, I've started thinking about where to go from here. I've never been this small in my entire adult life. I kid you not.

I have been asked how I set my goal weight. I picked the time I was smallest as an adult. I looked at those pictures several times over the past six years. I dreamed of being there again. So that's what I went for.

I never really believed I could make it this far. It was just some distant hope that I could get close. Now that it has become reality for me, I realized I'm just not ready to maintain my current weight.

We have a beach trip coming up and I want to see how much I can lose by then. I'm kinda skeptical to set an actual number at this point. I've never been this small and I really don't know what is realistic for my body now. I honestly celebrate any loss.

Secretly I think I'd like to have an overall loss of 100 pounds. I'm not sure that's even a possibility for my body, but who knows at this point. I don't want to stress over it, but I'm seriously considering it. I would actually have 27.3 pounds to go from here. According to the BMI charts I would be right in the middle of the normal weight range at that point.

I've got a husband who loves my curves and is protesting my continuation. I would be absolutely content if I stayed exactly where I am, but I am curious enough to try for something greater.

So how do you decide on a goal weight? How far off are you now?

I've got a super simple tip this week.

Try switching to whole grain breads this week instead of the regular white breads. The fiber and protein from the whole grains will leave you fuller longer and will keep your energy elevated longer than regular white breads. If you pick up bread at the store, make sure it reads "whole grain" or "whole wheat". They are now easily found as alternatives in the grocery aisles. Studies have shown that switching from white to wheat may lower the risk of heart disease by twenty percent.
On to my feature from last week's link up...
I have to admit that I completely fell head over heels for someone as soon as I stumbled across her blog. Once you read her blog, I just don't think you can stop yourself from liking her....
Lori at Fat to Fit 41 is just simply amazing! She offered some great clean eating tips last week, so make sure you stop by to check them out. Her transformation story has been featured by the Huffington Post and Fitness Magazine. Friends, she is absolutely the real deal and I am sure you will enjoy her blog and personality as much as I do.

You know what to do....

Weekend Wrap Up

Our weekend started a little early. Caleb went to VBS for the first time this year and he ended up having a stomach virus on Friday. We picked him up from church around lunch and he had his little face painted. He loved showing off his Batman mask. Somehow I didn't know Batman growled and had claws...

Fortunately for us, Caleb was feeling so much better on Saturday. We stayed around the house and let him play in the sprinkler.

That obviously wasn't enough because Daddy went out to buy him a pool to play around in.

Ryan picked him out some crab shaped goggles too.

He enjoyed splashing me and shooting at me with his water gun. I'm telling ya.... his mother is about to buy herself a Super Soaker to take care of that mess. He thought he was so hilarious.

We took a long Jeep ride and had Sweet Frog to wrap up our lazy weekend.

Healthy Omelets

Still eating clean around here. Life has been fairly hectic this week so we've gotten fairly creative. One evening I just plain craved an omelet. It's easy enough to throw something delicious together!

Eggs, mushrooms, onion, bell pepper, and natural cheese.

You can use egg whites instead of the whole eggs, if you wanna.

I like to saute my veggies before cooking the omelets. If you don't make pretty omelets, you can always scramble it all together. Still tastes the same!

And since I really do not make pretty omelets, you don't get to see that picture.... I was actually too busy trying to get it cooked that I didn't take a picture. But just imagine it was really good.

If it helps, you can imagine that it looked like a true chef made it.

I think that would be more than acceptable!
