We had the best weekend in Tellico. It's been a while since we could go, but it was worth the wait. My parents and my brother's family were all on vacation last week. We joined them for the end of it. My aunt and uncle were also there so we had a blast!
Caleb has begged me to ride a motorcycle for over year now. The child has the need for speed in his blood and it literally scares me to death! My dad, brother and husband have ridden motorcycles for years. I rode with my dad and brother when I was young until my brother had a bad dirt bike accident. After that I became anti-motorcycle.
It has taken me a long time to warm up to the idea of getting back on one. A few weeks ago, I finally climbed on the back of one with my dad and I remembered how much I enjoy them.
Yes, they still scare me to death.
On Saturday, I finally let Caleb ride one with his granddaddy.
As Ryan was setting him on, I was internally freaking out.
I'm trying not to smother my son and give him space to grow and explore.
It's so difficult to find a good balance between making sure nothing ever happens to him and allowing him to be the rambunctious child that he is.
He was so very excited!
He was very proud of himself!
This little face is what makes it all worth it.
He just looks so much older in that picture.
And I rode too!
Saturday afternoon Brian, Tara, Ryan and I took the kids on a picnic by the river.
They are just too sweet together!
When one does something, the other follows.
We let them play in the river after lunch.
They were absolutely covered in dirt!
The kids wanted to see the small rapids further up the river.
That meant Tara and I were wading with them in the cold water!
It was such a nice, relaxing weekend. Caleb and I took a long nap on the couch while it rained. I am so fortunate to be able to spend this kind of peaceful time with my family.
