I'll Admit....

Y'all are going to know I'm absolutely crazy after today!

Over 6 years ago I lost some weight. I was going to the gym and working out hard. I had lost 60 pounds and was pretty much thinking I was all kinds of awesome.

I bought a pair of running pants that I absolutely loved. I bought them in my new smaller size. I got home and tried to pull them up over my smaller hips....not happening. They weren't sized right at all.

Frustrated, I folded them up and put them in my dresser drawer.

Then life kinda got in the way....

So this morning I was getting dressed and noticed these pants.

(Seriously, who keeps a pair of pants that don't fit this long? Someone tell me I'm not alone! And yes, my memory is actually that good.)

I thought I would just give them a try to see how far off I was from actually wearing them....

Yep! Finally!

Sure, it may have taken a few years but I got there...
I got to wear a pair of pants that I had over 6 years for the very first time.

I also measured this morning.
I have lost 1.5" in my hips!
That is the very last place I lose and I feel like that's great progress.
I'm literally running my butt off!
Fabulous!!!!

  1. I am the same way. It comes off everywhere else before my hips. I have to go up a size in pants making them too big in the waist because of this. That must have felt awesome!!! You are such an inspiration.

    1. My body is exactly like that! I would be a size smaller if not for my booty!

      Thank you!!!!

  3. You are not crazy. I actually have a pair of these cute cropped pants from ten years ago that I have always wanted to wear. I still keep them!

    1. I'm so glad I'm not crazy! I didn't keep much, but I have a couple of things I really couldn't part with.

  5. You're not alone. I have an entire pre-baby wardrobe in storage... from 5 years ago. 50 pounds from now I'll actually be able to wear them again! (Thankfully, I'm already down 5 from starting exercising/healthy eating last week. It's a small step in the right direction, but I'll take it.)

  6. How long did it take you to note hate running? I hurt constantly. Can barely walk. I'm not feeling those endorphins everyone talks about+.

    1. I did things backwards....'cause I was lazy and scared. I ran track in high school when I was MUCH smaller. After gaining weight, I was afraid that my body wouldn't take to it very well. So I didn't even try. I lost my first 50 pounds through controlling my diet alone.

Over time, I tried a little physical activity here and there. More to just prove my body could handle it. I started doing Zumba twice a week for an hour. Then I went to two hours twice a week. I'm not sure if it has built up my endurance, but I think it has a lot to do with me being able to crossover to jogging easier.

I tried jogging two weeks ago and found out I could actually do it. It shocked me more than anything (my mind still thinks I'm 75 pounds heavier). Last week, I pushed myself. I mostly jogged (with some walking breaks) 6 miles. I have not been training. It took me a while to do it. It wasn't graceful by any means. But it sure beats sitting on the couch.

I think right now I love it for the pure joy of actually being able to do it. I think I'm in that phase where I still cannot believe my body is capable of it and it thrills me. I try to focus on that instead of how difficult it is for me. There was a time when I couldn't bend over to put on my own shoes.

After the 6 miles, my hips were the only thing really sore. It took 3 days to get past that. I think I should have focused on my stretching more. Are you stretching well after? Are you warming up a little before running?

  7. You look great! I lost weight a while back, then regained over several years. On the way down again now. I kept all my clothes (both my fat clothes and my skinny clothes). Often, it's not only my weight, but my taste in styles that changes too though. Even if something fits again, I may no longer necessarily like it. THEN I usually go ahead and get rid of it :)

  8. I'm back into clothes that have been in my closet for over 12 years, probably closer to 15, no judgement here on how long you keep clothes that don't fit!

    Congratulations! That's some awesome progress.

  13. Thanks so much for sharing this with our Let's Get Real readers. You are such a motivational force to be reckoned with. I love your story about having the pants. I have bras in about a million different sizes. Why don't I throw them out? I'm thrilled to be wearing some really cute ones as the pounds have come off with my new eating ways. Adding in exercise and I may need to go shopping. Who am I kidding..........I need to go shopping no matter what.

  15. Congrats!!!!! That is awesome. I was running trying to loose a little and blew my knee out, so I need to figure out something else. I am thrilled for you, I would be jumping up and down if I could lose that kind of weight and inches too. I would love for you to link up to my Inspire Me party that will go live tomorrow afternoon. www.astrollthrulife.net Hugs, Marty
