Insanity Beginnings

The first few days of Insanity have really pushed me. I honestly thought that I was getting in pretty decent shape before this week. I mean, I'm able to do two hours of Zumba twice a week. I run and walk now. I feel better than I ever have.

So Monday morning, I was thinking I'd probably hold my own during the Insanity Fit Test. I thought I'd be fairly decent at something prior to the actual workout, you know?

I was wrong. Dead wrong.

Can you actually fail an Insanity Fit Test? I was kinda wondering....

In all honesty, I got through it but I felt like I was going to be sick.

For an hour afterward.

I started to worry. I thought, "What have I agreed to do? Why did I think this would be a great idea? And how did I ever think I was actually in shape???"

On Tuesday, Ryan and I committed to doing the next workout. No joke, it was tough. Probably one of the toughest things I've ever tried to do with my body. I doubted that I could get through it.

Somehow or another, we both made it! It wasn't graceful by any means. I sweated like a pig, but I finished. I couldn't do all of the reps, but it was my first time. I'm actually okay with that.

On Wednesday, my legs hurt sooo bad. When 5:30 came around, Ryan and I had to literally talk each other out of the bed. We hurt, we were miserable, and it was just plain early.

We started the second workout, made it through, and discovered that we actually felt better. I was still really sore, but it was manageable. Except when I walked up or down stairs! That mess hurt!

Today found us completing our fourth day of Insanity. It was more of a recovery/stretching day and it felt fabulous! I was still sore, but my muscles feel stronger today.

Ryan is seeing some serious definition in his abs and I'm seeing some in mine! My calves are starting to show some pretty cuts.

I'm on day three of Shakeology and I am loving it! I'm afraid I may become addicted to it.

The scale is not moving in the direction that I was looking for yet. I've gained some and I am honestly hoping it's from muscle. I'm trying to not put much faith in my scale and the numbers on it just yet. It's so very difficult. I've read so many things from my blogging buddies about ditching the scale. I am trying. I really am. I'm not spazzing out over it just yet. Just hanging in there for now.

I do have a secret weapon for my workouts! I tried the Dr. Scholl's Active Series insoles after a few days of suffering through the workouts. They make such a difference! When my feet hurt, everything else seems to hurt so much more. With my inserts, I'm good to go!

  3. I was on the "Insanity Train" for 10 days but my entire body was killing me. I don't think I was mentally ready. However, I'm going to start again really soon. I know what to expect and I know I can do this. I've lost 12 lbs and I have about 40 more to go. Trying to get healthy, back into shape and loving my body again. I'm on my way.

Love the scale. I think I am going to steal your idea. Blessing to you and your family!!

  4. I felt the same way the first time I did the Insanity Fit Test! You'll notice recover starts taking less and less time as you move on.

Also, it's pretty common to actually gain in the first month of Insanity. It's mainly muscle gain. Also, they are going to hold onto every ounce of water you consume to repair themselves, so try drinking even more fluids. The weighloss is supposed to happen in month 2.

I watched a video once where Shaun T addressed the month 1 weight gain, and that's what he said :)
