Is it just me or is time really flying by right now? Sometimes I question if it's just me who's insanely busy lately or if you're all feeling it too. It seems like my calendar for the past two or three months is filled up before we even really get to it. Is it normal now that we have a social five year old, church friends, Zumba® girls, work, and families? Is this how it's supposed to be??
Ryan and I agreed that our Thanksgiving break was truly going to be a break. We didn't go Christmas shopping on Friday. I reluctantly turned down fun Zumba® classes with people I adore. For three days we just stopped. We finally got things handled around the house that truly needed some attention. And it just felt better, you know?
For the first time in weeks I felt like I could breathe. I think sometimes we need those breaks. So we can refocus, catch up, and evaluate things. I'm high energy, Ryan's super active, and Caleb's always on the go. It's so easy for the three of us to just stay busy. It's mostly our personalities and life is more fun for us at a faster pace. But just sometimes.... we need a break.
I stumbled across this....
I think women in general don't stop long enough to care for themselves. If we're anything alike, I'm willing to bet that you take care of your family, work, friends, and home without taking much time for yourself. I think a lot of women are givers. We give our love, time and energy to those we care about. But we forget to love ourselves somewhere along the way. Somewhere along the way we can feel guilty for stopping to do something for ourselves. Or we find a thousand reasons to put it off.
We get overwhelmed, stressed, and can act ugly when we forget to rest, relax, and get rid of stress. Some of us get angry at things around us without realizing that we simply need a break to reset our minds and hearts. Or maybe you're like me and just cry... I can always tell I'm overwhelmed when I cry at random.
Many of you come here looking for ways to get fit or have a rockin' body.... But I'm here to tell you none of that matters if you don't take time to care for your insides as well.
I challenge each of you to find one thing that relaxes you and do it this week. Don't wait and put it off. Take thirty minutes, an hour, or a whole day to care for yourself. In the grand scheme of things, it's really not that much time and it doesn't take a huge effort. But it will help you more than you know!
