Newly Decorated Guest Room

Remember the Bubble Gum Pink guest room that we have had??? This past Christmas the kids asked for a new room when they came to visit us this summer.

We're on our way back from Virginia after picking up my stepbabies and I just had to show you their new room:

I have taken pictures of both versions just to give you an idea.
The picture above is how it will look 11 months out of the year... Our actual guest bedroom.
The walls are a light charcoal grey. I went with a darker color than I had originally planned because the room gets so much natural sunlight.

This is how it will look while my awesome stepkids are with us!

See where I put the chair that I upholstered earlier in the week?

Last Friday night, Ryan and I painted the room and I have spent the past week decorating. (You just thought I was missing in action) I've been waiting quite a while to do this for them and I love how it turned out. I am really looking forward to showing it to them and I can't wait to see their faces! They think we totally forgot about it and I have waited until the very last minute so they could be completely surprised....
I'm still on the hunt for a little something to put on the shelves....

My mom made the small yellow pillows for the bed. We cut the "D" on the mirror out of vinyl with her Cricut Expression. I also took the small shelves that were in the room already and spray painted them light yellow.

I set up their karaoke machine they got for Christmas....set up our extra laptop for them to use while they're here...put their personal DVD players on charge....and stocked the mini-fridge with their favorite treats!

I'm still in search of the perfect lamp shade....
I wanted to go with a pre-teen look that would grow with them while we're in this home. I also have options of using this room as a guest room when they're not with us. I love the versatility we have and I believe it flows better with the colors in the rest of the house. It's a lot more modern and stylish.
